The mission of the PAWS For Life Shelter is to take in lost and unwanted dogs (cats in the future); to return them to their owners whenever possible or, after having them spayed or neutered, place them in good homes, and to educate the public about intelligent and humane treatment of animals.
A Doggone Great Operation!
PAWS for Life Animal Welfare & Protection Society takes in dogs surrendered by individuals who no longer want them or have circumstances requiring they give up their pets.
Also, many are strays saved by a Good Samaritan or pets in waiting are transferred in from other agencies.
We operate on a “no-kill” policy and provide our residents with excellent care and ongoing medical attention. We provide them with regular vaccinations and medical care for any and all symptoms of illness or injury as long as they are with us.
Grooming for our furry friends is provided by our volunteers or professional groomers depending on the condition of their coat. We strive to ensure all pets in waiting offered for adoption are healthy and happy.
Amenities provided to our pets in waiting
• Free access to outdoor runs for exercise and sunshine.
• Rotated walks along the river trail with volunteer dog walkers.
• Wading pools in each run during hot summer months for all pets in waiting to enjoy.

Top Dog Programs and Services
PAWS for Life Animal Welfare & Protection Society offers an Emergency Veterinary Care Program helping pet owners in financial need to get their pet to a vet for diagnosis and treatment. Funding for this program is made available by the kindness of individual donors and a few small grants. The amount of money given to persons in need is dependent on what is currently available in the emergency vet fund.
Here at PAWS we take the manners of our residents very seriously. Therefore, we offer free dog obedience training classes to any person adopting a dog from our shelter. Obedience classes are offered by a PAWS For Life board member.
We also participate in PETsMART’S national adoptathons and we take some of our dogs to PETsMART on additional weekends in order to give them more exposure.
Volunteers to help with these activities are welcome! |
