Each year, on the Saturday following Mother’s Day, PAWS For Life holds its
annual plant sale. This is a wonderful fundraiser and costs the shelter
nothing because all plants are donated.
A big thanks to Crites Greenhouse as they donate the majority of the annuals,
perennial and hanging baskets for the sale. Thanks also to Martin’s Greenhouse
for their donation of many flats and baskets and of course to Fox's as well
for their contribution of plant flats.
Many of our members also donate potted plants and Carolyn Christopher, a
board member, makes and donates ceramic animal pots and garden items.
Lunches for all our volunteer workers are provided by All Seasons Catering
and advertisement for the event is generously donated by The Pueblo Chieftain.
Each September PAWS for Life Animal Welfare & Protection Society holds their annual golf tournament. Many local businesses become hole sponsors or contribute items for our players. The tournament is held at the Hollydot Course in Colorado City. All prizes for special hole events (nearest to the pin) are donated.
In late summer, early fall PAWS for Life holds their annual raffle. All prizes for this are donated by area businesses and the drawing is held at the fall golf tournament. Tickets sell for $1 or six for $5.
Every year in August or September we hold our annual lawn sale. All items
for this event are donated by members and supporters and even a few businesses.
We have had so many quality items donated and the only expense to the shelter
for this event is the advertisement in the newspaper.
Other fundraisers are pet Santa photos at PETsMART, Feet 'n Fur, and cash
boxes at several supporting businesses. Every penny counts, and every donation,
whether it be time, money or items, is greatly appreciated.
